Time for a bath!
This morning was a great morning. I spent a few hours with Spade. I worked him for the first time on the drive lines. I have to say that he wasn't all that crazy about the lines being around his butt. After a small fit he settled down and realized that there wasn't anything to be afraid of. That is when the work started. He picked up the cues super quick and started working around the pen. Occasionally he would turn around and look at me. In the long run it was a great day for him. He is learning that everything that I do is for his benifit and he doesn't associate any of the extra work to be my fault. When I was done he was pretty hot and I really like to wash a hot horse off. I know I enjoy a good shower after all the hard work, I would think they do too. I took my chances and walked Spade out to the water hose to teach him to take a bath. Poor guy was so hot and tired he wasn't all that worried about the cold water or the hose. After a few minutes of a sprinkle on his legs he walked right into the water and I washed off his whole body. Today from time to time Spade still seemed slightly gaurded but in the overall picture he is no worse then so barrel horses that I have worked with. I still have three months to work out the little issues that he has. Now I have come in the house and it is time for my bath. :)
