New family member.

Well after a long trip to Oklahoma we finally got home yesterday at 4:00 pm. I was so excite to get back home to Spade. But I was also very excited to see my Barrel Mustang and she her move in the pen. They don't give you to much time to look at them at the BLM. She is a beautiful dark bay mare that has a great confirmation. She is very sweet, extremely smart and a tad bit strong willed. She moves decent. I am going to have to teach her how to run. She is a little clumsy. In all she is way more friendlier then Spade was and not near as flighty. She has lots of confidence. So far my only issue is getting her to eat. Not sure if it is the bucket or the grain. I am calling her Magpie like the bird. She seems very interested but a little flighty at times.
As far as Spade goes I rode him in the arena lights for the first time last night. I got to laughing at him because he was literally running from his shadow. And the faster he would move the after it would chase him. Thankfully he didn't hurt me in the process. He finally would calmly walk and just keep his eye on it. By the end of the night he had learned to back with leg pressure and allow me to take things off the fence. Another thing I did was run around his backend awhile and wave things around which seemed to help because today at the barrel race he was very tolerant of people moving around him. He also did two exhibitions and did great. I have been so proud of him.

Tonight I felt horrible because I was away from my phone at the barrel race and Danial had called me a ton. When I finally got back to it at 12:30 am I found a text of us on our wedding day five years ago. Then I realized I totally forgot our anniversary. I worked the new mustang early this morning and then took off to do some other stuff and then came home to then pack up and head to the barrel race. I knew it would be late when I got back. I didn't even think of the date. When I got home my whole family was asleep. So now I feel horrible because everything I have given to the mustangs has taken away from my family time. I am so glad that they are so supportive of this adventure. But I know they will all be glad when it is over. I have the greatest family in the world. Sometimes I am not the best at showing them how much I appreciate how great they are.
