To Fast to go Slow.

What a great couple of days. Last night I rode Spade and worked on more control. He is finally feeling like a regular horse. He has been very aimless the past few weeks. Similar to riding a drunk horse. Last night I worked on more shoulder control and speed control. By the end of the night I had way more control. The problem I was still having is he wants to move out to fast. I ask for a trot and he will fast trot. I ask for a lope and he will almost run. The whole time giving me the bridle. He honestly doesn't know how to do anything slow. So today I put him in the pipe round pen hoping that I might get through to him. I finally got him to do a slow trot but the lope was extremely fast. I laughed at his attempt. He really is the cutest thing and really does try to do anything that I ask.  Tonight and tomorrow I am trying to regroup and see what might work to teach him he has a slow lope in there. I did two different drills that normally work for him they didn't. I will figure out something tomorrow. As far as Magpie she did much better today. I really turned up the heat on sacking her out this morning. I made a large mop out of a feed sack and used that on her she did much better. Another thing that I started doing was rushing toward her when I went to pet her. She got to where she would stop and just let me pet and pat all over with no hesitation. Tomorrow Angie is coming back out to help me with a few things that I need two trainers on so we will see how she does. I hope to be on her in a few days. I know tonight was short but I wanted to keep everyone involved. I am headed to bed.
