Getting better.
Just got in not to long ago. I have picked up the work load to three horses a day and going to start with four a day by the end of the week. Spade did pretty good today. He was his regular spooky self when I entered the pen so I ran him for a while. I then brushed him and braided his mane to start taming his mane again. I brushed his body and started brushing his front legs. He hates his legs to be touched. It isn't as much fear as it is just a dislike. So as I brushed he would start to back up. So every time he would move I would push him in a circle. He finally started to stand for me to brush his legs. I then started to circle him around the pen. As I pushed him to the right he lightly pulled me to the barrels laying on their side. Then he jumped them!!! A week ago I had tried to show him this and he never really understood. Today he acted like he wanted to show me he could do it. I wished he would have done the same thing to the left but it is a start. After he did so good with that I was afraid to do more. But I figured that one more thing wouldn't hurt. So I tied the tarp to the end of his lead rope. I guess I wanted to see what he would do. He very lightly and calmly pulled it all over the pen. He would stop every so often and look at me for approval. He even trotted with it some. I was more then happy about his attitude after he settled down. I think what I am waiting on is for that attitude to be there when I first enter the pen. He will get there. Thanks to all of you that have prayed for me in this. The prayer is working I am just learning patience in the process.
