Road trip
What an interesting day. So I had to pack and get going for Spade and I's little road trip. I knew it might get interesting. To leave you have to load in the trailer...Spade didn't want to leave or load. After working an hour at least with a few of my friends and my husband, my dad comes out and suggest we shoot load him. I wasn't sure if it would work but it was worth a try. So we pulled the trailer down the barn isle latched the gates together and I ran after him down the run and in to his stall. It took him a minute to realize that the stall door was open but once he did he ran right in. Yay! We did it. Even though I was covered in sweat by this time and it didn't teach Spade to load we still were able to leave almost on time. I am just glad everyone was safe. All the way to Round Top he was back there pretty quiet. When we would stop and people were walking around the trailer Spade would get very nervous. The got him on the reactive side of his brain. I finally get to the house of the guy that is helping me. He had told me what to do and where to put him. It was a little weird because no body was there. They had plans and because Spade didn't load th I opened the escape door to see if he was going to let me unload him. He gave me the crazy snort so I back the trailer to Dan's round pen and let him out. As Spade jumped out the lead was over his back. He started pitching and bouncing around. I thought to myself I am not going to get anything done today. After I closed the gate. I stood there and looked at him a while. Sometimes you forget who they are until you get them somewhere else. As I was watching him Dan's wife came up and we started talking about him. As we talked I walked In the pen and was going to take the halter off. He came to me and I just walked him around as I talked to Kelley. He was doing really good. After a while of playing around with the normal routines. He came up and started rubbing his head on me. Normally this is a big no no around me but for Spade it was a huge step in letting me know that he trusted me. I rubbed and scratched. For the first time today I scratched his butt. He even allowed Kelley to come up and rub him all over. I hate it because he is such a teddy bear when he isn't scared. I want him to be like that all the time. Then I went to feed and the noise of the feed in the bucket?...he was gone. We will see what tomorrow holds.
